Jac Kritzinger was born in the lush wasteland of 1970's South Africa. He's been labelled as a wandering lightsmith, workaholic and dinosaur toeing the viper line.
Whatever the assignment, his lens always aims to venture beyond the layers of collective reality, revealing something deeper, darker, more ethereal and sublime. An edgy, stylized aesthetic - however stark or subjective - remains a key element in his work, suggesting that it is through beauty that the connection with a world often lost in plain sight is restored. The language of light ultimately illuminates all, within and without, and in this regard he might be described as a poet first and a photographer second.
Spanning a professional photographic career of more than 15 years, his clients include Media24, Caxton, New Media, De Kat, Mercedes Benz, The Nelson Mandela Foundation, Financial Times, American Express, British Airways, FHM, Mail & Guardian, KykNet, Vrij Nederland, Bookforum and Penguin Random House. He has also been awarded the PICA Highly Commended Award For Photojournalism in 2014.
